Remembering Melbourne

I always have the fondest memories of Melbourne, the second largest city in Australia.

In my first visit in 1996 with two friends, I remember falling in love quickly with the Victorian-era architecture and the rich offering of cultural institutions and experiences. Of course, it is well-known that Melbourne is generally regarded as the cultural capital of the Down Under.

But to me, there is just something more about this cosmopolitan city that I love. A certain quality that I couldn't find in other big cities.

I returned two years later with a different friend, for a very different experience. We went to places I didn't go in my first trip and spent more time just exploring the city leisurely.

A decade on, my memories of Melbourne is still so vivid. Simply remembering once again - the weekend buzz at the St. Kilda, the gorgeous South Bank area along the Yarra River and the bohemian culture one finds at the Fitzroy -  makes me want to return real soon!

One day, I shall. And I will blog about it this time.

I too enjoyed my time in Melbourne. Was there studying from 1994-1999. Met Hb there also :)

Maybe when the kids are much older then can go traveling again without them :)

And mine! We moved there when I was 10 and spent more than a decade there. Really miss it!

Although I must say that since I was a very "kwai" girl when I was young, my experience in Melbourne only really started much later. It's only on my later visits that I started to really see the city as it really is.

Btw, when's your trip up here?
