My Boy Turns 4!

I feel a wee bit emotional this morning as I was making his bento. My baby is now 4 years old. My mind was just filled with images of the first time I saw him when my OB delivered him, how that sight of the screaming "frog" moved me to tears. And all those familiar mixed feelings during my early nursing days and tasting motherhood for the first time felt so recent, yet so far. It almost felt like I was just in the hospital nursing him for the first time, but the reality is it was 4 years ago. I can't wait to collect him from school and give him a big squeeze and kiss and tell him I love him.

Just before bed last night, he told me what clothes he wants to wear today for his "happy birthday". He meant his party. He just assumes that he will be going somewhere for his party. This is the first time he has mentioned so much about his own party, which is kind of really sweet. I don't think he quite got the idea last year. It was hilarious as he picked his tee-shirt, trousers and also his underwear. It gotta be that specific underwear! Haha! He usually doesn't care much about what he wears and would simply leave the wardrobe decision to me.

I didn't have the heart to tell him that the actual big party won't happen today, but there will be a family-only-full-of-love celebration for him when papa returns from work. We sort of screwed up somewhere... there was supposed to be a party at his school yesterday, but we had to postpone it till 2 weeks later due to E's work commitments. Well, I figured it is better to cut a cake, have some photos taken and the kids sing him the song 2 weeks late, than never. At least there will be photos to look at in future.

Still, he has a giant pile of huge presents waiting in the living room and a cake coming. Even little N is learning to sing him the birthday song.

In the evening, daddy brought back the cake and the boy was embarrassed from all the fuss we made over him.

There is another present which contains 2 puzzles but we forgot to take photos of them.

Happy birthday Marcus. Nicole turned 4 on sunday! so she is a cheche to you :)...she was so excited about her party the night before that she could hardly sleep. As a result, she had sleepy eyes the following day! Nicole was frightened by that big chicky we arranged for her!
