Mama, see the tomato!

Here's yet another of our Fruit and Vegetable learning session and the star this time, is the tomato. See my previous post here on the broccoli and capsicum.

He was given a toy tomato, a real one and an apple to compare with.

Then he was given a blunt table knife to cut up the tomato which I had already partially cut (so it is easier for him to cut through).

He easily cut it into quarters and started examining the squishy insides. We scooped out the seeds together and he pressed the soft interior and exclaimed loudly as the wet flesh dripped onto the table.

He tried to stuff the whole tomato into his mouth. Not successful, so took a bite. After some chewing, he spat out some red mush.

Then he tried to treat the cherry tomato the same way.

My camera ran out of battery at this point so I wasn't able to take more photos of him cutting up some beansprouts and baby spinach leaves later on. After he got through with all the mutilating of the vegetables, he chewed on some beansprouts and even ate two spinach leaves. And they were raw!
