For lunch today, the boys had a large piece of Alaskan cod steamed with cabbage, which I served with forbidden rice. I only added a pinch of sea salt and few slices of ginger to the cod and the cabbage soaked up the juices from the steamed fish. I drizzled whatever liquid I got from the dish onto the rice and the boys loved their lunch so much, they cleaned up their plates.
About 3 hours later, I kept wondering where that fishy smell came from as I walked around the house. Ohhhh.. the boys' hair and heads smelled so fishy! And it doesn't stop there. Their pee, poo and nappy all smelled like some super stinky fish!!
It is so funny that I have to blog about it, so I can laugh about it in future with them. I remember Marcus used to have smelly hair and heads when he was a toddler after eating his cod dinner too. When he was about 1, I used to cook him a poached cod dinner which consisted of 100g of cod per meal about 3-4 times a week. That was a sure pleaser recipe so I cooked it frequently to ensure his weekly intake of the oily fish. I haven't done it for a long time now since both boys would eat the steam version which is frankly, a lot simpler to prepare. But perhaps I should poach the fish again next week, just for a change, and serve with some different vegetables. Hmm.. yes!
