I started doing some simple art appreciation with M when he turned 2 with the Eric Carle's Animals Animals. But it didn't last long as he was simply not interested with the colourful illustrations of animals and would much rather read Dr Seuss or other titles by Eric Carle. So the book went into recluse on the bookshelf until recently when Chipsy has taken a fond interest in the book.
So several times a week, we appreciate the gorgeous drawings of different animals together. Whenever his attention span allows, I read the poetry about the animals and talk about the features and interesting facts of each creature. M likes to join in at times and we discuss what we like about the illustrations and how we feel about the poetry.
I simply love this book. Whenever I read it with the boys, I can feel my creative juices flowing and all these wonderful ideas of what we can do together based on each animal featured just come easily to mind.
With so much I want to do with the kids and so little time on a daily basis, it can get frustrating at times. For now, many ideas just go into cold storage till I can find some breathing space.

We love this book too, or anything by Eric Carle, as a matter of fact. Though must learn to be as creative as you.
