Dolly's Stories: Yellow's Adventures

Dolly loves to write. Like her brothers when they were this age, she is always busy with some kind of self-initiated writing projects.

Ever since she was about 3.5 years old, she started writing all kinds of stuff. She would leave notes, instructions, love messages, short stories etc for everyone in the house. Her friends and teachers in school are also weekly recipients of her writing.

Usually I let her write whatever she wants. The only help I give would be in spelling.

Over time, her ability to spell also improves tremendously. Now her foundation in English is strong enough that she can spell most words that she wants to write and if there is any word that she needs me to spell for her, all it takes is that one-time exposure and she will remember it. No kidding!!

No need for tedious and boring spelling exercises and copying/writing the same word repeatedly. This is another strength of the coaching method that I employ for the Bright Minds Lapbookers programme.

Here is an example of a story that she wrote and illustrated over two mornings before school.

When I first read it, I thought it was hilarious that she included a teaser of the upcoming story! It must be something that she picked up from books that she was reading.
