The Toddler Asks

My 26-month-old got me all excited this week. Looks like she is beginning to think the way I like her to.

Some questions were asked when we were discussing something. Other times, the questions came out of the blue, a sign that she was listening to and reflected on what I said months or weeks before.

For instance, just last night, while waiting for me to start her bedtime routine, she asked, "does the joey also have a pouch?"

She must have thought of what I said days ago about the marsupials.

At dinner, when the boys were exchanging a sunburnt penguin joke from the How to Train a Dragon series, she interrupted with  "are penguins birds? Can penguins fly? Where are their wings?"

When we were out for a stroll after dinner and she saw a dog sniffing the ground and grass. She asked if the dog would like to eat grass.

I love her curiosity and keen observation. My cute little muffin. Mama is very impressed.

Sparring

An edited video showing M's back kick at a sparring session last month. He was the one on the right at the start of video. In the second part of video, he was on the left.

Appreciated

The following feedback was part of emails from S, mother of CL who is one of my K2 students and MH, mum of 3-year-old H.

There are a lot of discussion and talk on the tuition/enrichment demand lately and your lap booking classes came to mind. Frankly, I have let C try out many tuition centres these past 2 years, some include the industry's high end. However, none can replicate the approach taken by you.  I am a sahm who is deeply vested in my kids' education, though I am no expert in early childhood learning, I have researched extensively and was exposed sufficiently to be more discerning in selecting the right enrichment for C.

Looking through the past lapbooks done in your classes, I find the content much more superior  than those I have seen in her other tuition classes. I truly appreciate that a lot of efforts and thoughts have been invested in producing these high quality materials.

I must say that I like the lapbooking concept and have enjoyed carrying out the activities with the kids though I am not an effective teacher. I can appreciate the amount of hard work and time that you have invested in coming out with activities of varied degree of challenges. Your kids are indeed fortunate to have such a talented mother. You are truly inspiring and I am glad to be able to learn a thing or two from you. I am really thankful!

It is always heartwarming to know that all my hard work is appreciated. To realize that besides my own children, I am making a difference in other children's learning journeys is just as priceless.

Thank you again, S and MH (if you are reading), for taking the time to write to me.
